Janet Lim
Senior Early Childhood Educator (kindergarten supplement teacher)

I graduated from UBC in 1983 with a Bachelor of Education with concentration in psychology, primary and early childhood education.

I married my high school sweetheart and we have two wonderful daughters born in 1993 and 1995.

I have been at KACCS since 1984. I knew I wanted to be a teacher when I was 12 years old and was sent to a grade 1 classroom to listen to children read. I was instantly hooked.

In my spare time, I enjoy running, the Grouse Grind, cooking, baking and shopping.

Early Childhood Educator (prekindergarten teacher)

I have been with KACCS since 1988. I job share with Jelica. I have been married since 1990 and have two wonderful daughters.

For the last 12 years, in my spare time, I have volunteered as the PAC Chair for both elementary and high school. I also enjoy walking, Pilates, reading, attending my daughter’s soccer and softball games.

I knew I wanted to work with children since high school. I come from a very large family and I was the 3rd oldest grandchild out of 25. Teaching, playing and managing large groups of children came naturally to me.

Jelica (pronounced - Ya-litz-sa) Bobek
Early Childhood Educator (daily program planning)

I have been a childcare provider since 1980 (and with KACCS since 2004). I’m a Langara graduate and I have an Early Childhood Education diploma (infant/toddlers) and have Special Needs education.

In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my two boys and my friends. I also enjoy travelling, reading, walking around Stanley Park on an early Sunday morning.

Working with the children at KACCS seems like the most natural thing to do. After all these years, I still look forward to coming to work.

The interesting thing about me is that my own son attended KACCS in 1979. My son remembers Kerry and the centre with extreme fondness. So I have been on both sides of KACCS – as a parent and as a caregiver.

To me, children are amazing because they make me laugh out loud daily. I learn from them everyday. I think children (including my own) are life’s best teachers. Children will always continue to amaze me.

Maya Wilson
Early Childhood Educator

I graduated from UBC with a Bachelor of Arts in sociology in 2012. During my studies I began working part-time at Kits Area. It didn't take long for me to change my plans of a masters degree and pursue a career in early childhood education.

In my spare time I enjoy cooking, running, doing yoga, hiking and camping, shopping for vinyl records, and taking in as much live music as possible.

Children are so innately wise and I love learning with them (and from them) every day. I enjoy bringing my own passions to work and sharing them with the children; I love to teach music and do yoga with the children.
